After Your Testimony

  • Published: June 24, 2013

Following your testimony, any witnesses will be given the opportunity to testify and be questioned by your Ocala Social Security disability attorney and the judge. It is unlikely that you will get a decision at the completion of the hearing and should not expect one until several weeks later.

Witnesses

Your Ocala Social Security disability attorney will ask you to bring at least one witness to your hearing. This witness will be able to corroborate your account of your impairment and detail how he or she has seen it affect your life. In addition to your witnesses, your Ocala Social Security disability attorney will tell you to expect that a medical or vocational expert will testify as well.

Closing Argument

The judge will likely give you the opportunity to add anything before the hearing ends. Your Ocala Social Security disability lawyer will do this, though, and it is unnecessary for you to make any further statements at that time.

The Decision

The judge may issue a bench decision immediately following your hearing, with a written copy to be received after a few days. This is unlikely, however, and most will submit a decision in writing after the hearing has ended. Your Ocala Social Security disability lawyer will advise that you should not expect to receive a decision until several weeks or longer after your hearing.

How Your Attorney Will Help

Your attorney will help you prepare for your hearing. It is important to find an Ocala Social Security disability attorney who is knowledgeable about disability claims. Contact the CJ Henry Law Firm, PLLC at 352-304-5300 today to ensure that you have an advocate who will fight for you.
